The Two Applications of the Sliding Pedicle Flaps to the End of the Stump for the Toe Amputation and Below Knee Amputations


Abstract
We are very interested in the method of sliding subcutaneous pedicle flap for the covering of circular defect of the skin which was reported by Trevaskis, A.E., et al. (1970).
When this procedure is applied to the skin defect of the amputated stump, the stump is to preserve maximum function and to minimize loss of time from work. Because the procedure provides good contour and padding with less. scarring of the Limb, and the most important of all, preserves normal sensation.
Here, we give two clinical applications for the covering of the skin defect of the end of the amputated stump; one was toe amputation and the other was chronic ulceration of the end of the short below knee amputation, and good results were obtained such as preserving the length, the function, the sensation and cosmetic furthermore.
